Kliment Nikolaevich Troubetzkoy was born July 3, 1933 in Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Kalinin Institute of Nonferrous Metals and Gold (specialty "mining engineer for the development of non-ferrous metals") in 1961. He started as an assistant shooter of Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. Later he was appointed to the director of the Institute of Comprehensive Exploitation of Mineral Resources.

Currently he is an Adviser of the RAS Presidium.

He is an expert in the field of theoretical foundations of design, technology forecasting and integrated development of mineral resources.

He is RAS Corresponding Member since 1987 c., Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences since 1991 (Department of Earth Sciences).

The main directions of scientific research: the creation of design theory and application of resource-saving technologies and equipment in the quarries, the creation of the theoretical foundations of design, technology and integrated development of mineral resources.

Kliment Troubetzkoy substantiate the new understanding of modern natural scientific content of Mining Sciences, as a system of knowledge about the methods and laws managed technogenic transformation bowels of the earth. He substantiated the idea of ​​purposeful formation of technogenic deposits with predetermined parameters and characteristics, developed the scientific basis for the creation of high-performance technology development of bowels of the earth, he made significant contributions to their widespread commercial application.

He created and led the leading scientific school in the field of integrated development of mineral resources, supported by the state. Among his students were members of Russian Academy of Sciences, 29 ph.ds.

He is an author of over than 700 published in Russia and abroad documents, including 34 monographs, 4 textbooks and more than 75 patents.

He is a member of the Scientific Editorial Board of the Great Russian encyclopedia, the chief editor of the journal "Mining", a member of the editorial board of the "Mining Journal".

He is a member of the Council for awarding prizes from the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology, the Chairman of the Expert Council on the development of solid minerals HAC RF.

He is laureate of State prize of the USSR and the Russian Federation, Prize of the President of the Russian Federation, twice prize winner of the government of the Russian Federation.

He was awarded "For merits before Fatherland" IV and III degrees.
